A 46-year-old man was arrested Sunday after biting an Anne Arundel County police officer.

Jeffrey Crook faces several charged including attempted second degree murder and assault on police.

Police were called to a Severn home around 5 a.m. Sunday. Two residents told police that Crook was banging on the outside of the house with a brick in his hand. They told Crook he wasn't welcome in the home, but he refused to leave.

Crook then forced his way into the house through a rear sliding glass door. Once in the house, he assaulted one of the residents, punching him in the face.

When officers arrived the located Crook in an upstairs bedroom. He was rambling incoherently and refused officers' commands. He resisted officers' attempts to place in handcuffs.

Struggling with an officer, Crook bit the officer on the forearm, breaking the skin. The officer deployed a departmental Taser striking Crook, but police said it had no effect. Additional officers arrived and aided in Crook's arrest, taking him into custody.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment because of the Taser deployment. The officer was also taken to the hospital for treatment of the bite wound.

Crook was released from the hospital and transported to Western for processing.
