GLEN BURNIE, Md. - A 15-year-old was taken into police custody at Glen Burnie High School Tuesday. Police say a handgun was found in his backpack.
According to a report provided by the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the 10th-grade student was questioned by administrators after leaving campus and returning. Officials say the student's response to questions were a red flag.
After a search of the student's backpack, a loaded .22-caliber handgun was found.
The student was taken into custody by officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department without incident.
Officials say the initial investigation indicates that no other student was involved and the student with the gun did not display the weapon or threaten anyone with the weapon. The student's reasons for having the weapon and where he obtained that weapon are part of the active, ongoing investigation.
