Linthicum man charged with arson

A Linthicum man is charged with intentionally setting a fire that displaced 20 people and injured two firefighters.

Authorties charged Briann J. Preissler, 38 with first degree arson, second degree arson, malicious burning and destruction of property following the two alarm apartment fire in in Linthicum.

Fire crews were called to the 200 block of West Maple Road around 11:10 Saturday morning. When they arrived they found heavy flames coming from the rear of the 4-story apartment building.  It took 45 firefighters three hours to bring the blaze under control.

Nine adults and 5 five children were displaced and are currently being helped by the Red Cross.

The damage is estimated at approximately $500,000.

There were no civilian injuries; however two firefighters were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. They were both discharged by Saturday evening.
