Investigators in Anne Arundel County say the two deaths from a house fire in Severn earlier this month were the result of a murder-suicide.

Early on the morning of December 10th, fire crews responded to a home in the 1200 block of Old Camp Meade Road, about five miles south of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Inside, they found the body of 59-year-old Diana Knight.

Later, they found another body; that person has now been positively identified as Jeffrey Deberry, who was 53 years old.

Anne Arundel County police say both Deberry and Knight lived at the home, but on Dec. 6th, just a few days before the fire, there was some kind of incident there.

That incident led Knight to file for a protective order against Deberry.

Instead of staying away from her -- police believe Deberry came back to the home, with at least two guns.

They say he shot Knight in the head -- killing her before the fire started -- and then shot and killed himself.

How and exactly when the fire started is still under investigation, but investigators say when they finally found Deberry's body, it was in a chair, with two handguns next to it.
