A former Anne Arundel County high school teacher was found guilty last week of sexually abusing a 16-year-old student.

Nathan Lee Martin, 39, was found guilty Thursday of sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense by a person in a position of authority, fourth-degree sexual contact and second-degree assault, according to the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office.

Martin was a math teacher at Arundel High School in December 2015 when the student and her parents told police Martin had called her to a closet at the back of the classroom and touched her buttocks and put his face on her chest area, according to the state's attorney's office.

He will be sentenced on Sept. 12. Martin could get a sentence of up to 25 years in prison and faces lifetime registration as a sex offender, according to the state's attorney's office.
