PD: Children left alone while woman robs

ODENTON, Md. - Anne Arundel County Police say that a woman left five young children unattended while she and a male accomplice broke into a motel room and robbed a guest of his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery took place just after midnight on September 22, 2012, at the Royal Inn Motel, located in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton. Police responding to a call spoke to 23-year-old male victim, who reported that he was in his room with the door open when a male and female suspect entered his room uninvited. The victim said the male pushed him down and demanded property. He subsequently handed over his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspects, who left the victim's room and reportedly entered another room on the same property.

Police then saw the suspects at the motel matching the description. They arrested James Anthony Reese, 22, of Baltimore, and Tameka Dereese Wright, 35, of Odenton. Both were charged with robbery, theft and first-degree burglary.

When police visited a room being rented by Wright, they discovered five children, ranging in age from four months to six years -- left unattended. The Annapolis Capital reported that Wright was been charged with leaving her five children while she and an accomplice committed the robbery.

County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy could not comment on Reid's relationship to the children.
The children were released to the custody of a family member.
