DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. - Two bicyclists were hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Central Avenue near the Patuxent River Bridge Saturday afternoon.
Police said two women were riding their bikes on Central Avenue when the woman in front was hit by a light colored SUV that fled the scene. The car was last seen driving west on Central Avenue into Prince George’s County.
Police identified the first biker as Lynn Kristianson, 62, of Arlington, Va. She was taken to Shock Trauma in critical but stable condition.
The cyclist directly behind Kristianson, identified as 52-year-old Maile Neel of University Park, crashed into Kristianson. She was also taken to Shock Trauma where she was treated and released.
A Chevy Impala then hit Kristianson’s bike which was in the road. The driver of the Impala stayed at the scene.
Evidence from the scene indicates the fleeing car is a Honda SUV driven by a white man in his 50s or 60s with a grey mustache and dark glasses.
Police said the primary cause of the crash is driver error. Witnesses report sun glare may have also been a factor.
