ANNAPOLIS - After being found guilty of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in May, John Michael Winner, 39, of Crofton, will serve 45 years in prison, according to a release from Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess.
The judge sentenced Winner to 65 years, but suspended 20 years, according to the release.
"Mr. Winner preyed upon this girl, taking her innocence when she was just entering her teenage years. This sentence ensures he will be behind bars for decades and will prevent him from victimizing other children in the future," Leitess said.
After serving his time in prison, Winner will be on probation for five years and required to register as a Tier III Sex Offender. He must remain compliant for the rest of his life, authorities said.
