BROOKLYN PARK, Md. - An employee at a Brooklyn Park Popeyes has been charged with killing his co-worker Sunday.
Anne Arundel County police said Moises Gomez-Castillo, 26, of Brooklyn has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and theft in connection to the death of Luzviminda Monreal.
Police said Gomez-Castillo was taken into custody late Monday afternoon in the Annapolis area and is currently being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on no bond pending a bail review later today.
Police said the motive for this murder was robbery and investigators believe that Gomez-Costillo pre-planned the robbery based on his knowledge of the management operations of this business. Gomez-Castillo has worked at the Popeye's off and on for about seven years.
In addition, police said detectives interviewed numerous people and served search warrants at several locations. Evidence linking Gomez-Castillo to this robbery/murder, included an undisclosed amount of money believed to be that removed from the business during the robbery.
Monreal’s body was discovered by other co-workers early Sunday morning. Police said she suffered from significant trauma to her body and was found in a back stock area of the business.
