We're in the middle of Cyber Monday and that means a lot of packages coming to our homes in 5 to 7 business days. We know that and so do a lot of thieves out there.
That's why it's important to have a plan for your packages when they come to your door step. If they are sitting on the front porch of your house all day long, that gives package thieves a better opportunity to make away with your Christmas presents.
Police recommend to have someone home or even a neighbor retrieve the packages. The bottom line is to not make it easy for them.
"A lot of people leave notes on their front door to tell mail man or your carrier to come around back and leave the packages on my back porch," said Anne Arundel County police spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith. "Well you're also telling a bad person to go around back because that's where your packages will be. "
Police also recommend to arrange to have your packages left at the post office so you can pick them up there.
