GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WMAR) - A Baltimore City Police cadet was arrested Thursday evening on reports of second degree assault.
Anne Arundel County police responded to the 100 block of Plymouth Lane in Glen Burnie on Thursday around 4:30p.m. for a domestic incident.
According to police, a witness said that a man and woman were arguing in the parking lot. The male was seated inside a vehicle and the female was standing outside. The male driver attempted to leave and struck the female with the car in the process. The man and woman then entered an apartment building.
Police say officers tried to make contact with both parties. After some time, police were able to reach the male and female. On scene, officers noticed redness and scratches on the victim's legs. The victim refused medical treatment.
According to police, the male was arrested for domestic assault and identified as 24 year-old Zachary Michael Mitchell, an off-duty cadet with the Baltimore Police Department.
Mitchell was slated to graduate from the police academy on March 22, however, the Commissioner has rescinded his invitation to graduate.
