Anne Arundel County Police have identified a Westminster man who was arrested after impersonating a police officer.

On July 16, police responded to a call for an armed police impersonator near the 1800 block of Dove Court in Severn. A victim told police they'd pulled into their residential community and saw the suspect's vehicle improperly parked in someone else's parking space.

Police said the suspect, Jason Gilbert Giordano, 41, told the victim he was a federal officer after getting into a dispute with the victim and pointing a handgun at them. Giordano then fled the area.

After identifying the suspect, police issued an arrest warrant and were able to locate Giordano with help from other jurisdictions. Giordano was located in the Annapolis area, police said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime and reckless endangerment.

Police also executed a search warrant for a building in Annapolis, where Giordano was residing, police said. Inside, they found a pellet gun and ammunition, which police said may have been used in the incident.

Police said that they are still investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Franklin Bilbrey at the western district at 410-222-6155.
