A young woman is dead and five people are behind bars and it's all gang related. Anne Arundel County police aren't giving up many details on the murder of Jennifer Rivera Lopez including motive.
But this news comes on the heels of a plea to the entire county from the chief of police to be vigilant for gang activity.
It's in a wooded area near the intersection of Chesterfield and Hawkins Roads in Anne Arundel county where police found the body of 21-year-old Lopez. She had been reported missing in June.
In charging documents obtained by ABC2, police reveal she was lured to the area by several suspects after they picked her up from her Annapolis home. Ervin Figuero, Brenda Argueta, Ronald Mendez-Sosa, Darvin Guerra-Zacarias and Francisco Ramirez-Pena.
Anne Arundel County police told ABC2 Wednesday this murder is gang related. But it's not clear which one. Investigators continue to be tight lipped about the circumstances surrounding Lopez's death.
Lopez was found in a secret grave. On June 24th she was taken to a remote area on or near the ground of a youth camp outside of Annapolis where she suffered significant trauma and killed. Her body was found about three months later on September 20th.
Police worked with what they're calling reliable sources to crack the case and make the five arrests.
Cellphone and electronic records show communication between Lopez and the female suspect the day of her murder.
All 5 suspects face murder charges and are being held without bond. They were arrested on September 29th and 30th.
Last week, Anne Arundel county police Chief Timothy Altomare said the entire county should be wary of gang activity and today the department announced it's offering resources for those who say they're being targeted.
