The CEO of the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corp. has been placed on unpaid leave after he was arrested last week for burglary.

Robert Hannon, 70, was arrested last Friday and charged with first-  and fourth-degree burglary, fourth-degree theft and theft of less than $100 after a woman told police she caught Hannon on her home security camera taking lingerie out of dresser drawers in her bedroom.

Hannon is the woman's neighbor, according to an Annapolis Police report.

County Executive Steve Schuh said in a statement Tuesday that Chief Administrative Officer Mark Hartzell has been appointed as acting CEO of the Economic Development Corp. until further notice.

"These serious charges against Mr. Hannon are surprising and constitute a need for responsible leadership pending the resolution of his case," Schuh's statement read.
