Anne Arundel County Police are investigating two similar, but believed to be separate, incidents of sexual assault that began in Baltimore City and occurred in parts of Anne Arundel. Police say in both incidents, the victims were picked up in Baltimore and taken in cars driven by suspects without knowing who they were.

On Thursday, August 4, at 3:45 p.m. a victim was picked up in the area of 4th Avenue and Washburn Ave on the Baltimore side of Brooklyn and driven to the Mount Calvary Cemetery near Cedar Hill Lane and Snow Hill Lane where she was sexually assaulted. Police describe the suspect as “a black male, about 5’7”, and stock build. He was wearing a light colored, short sleep polo style shirt with blue stripes, khaki shorts, and white and red Nike sneakers.” Police also say he is believed to be between 30-40 years of age, wore glasses, and was bald on top of his head. He was driving a dark colored SUV.

The second incident happened on Saturday, August 6 at 3:30a.m. when a victim was picked up near Fairhaven Ave and Elmtree St on the Baltimore side of Curtis Bay and driven to the area of Stahl Pointe Rd and Ordinance Rd in Anne Arundel Co where she was sexually assaulted by the suspect. In this case, he is described as “a white male in his late 30s with very short blond hair and a beard.” He was driving an older model dark colored pick-up truck with a silver tool box attached.

Police say while the victims did not know the suspects in either case, they voluntarily entered the vehicles. Police want to remind all citizens to “exercise good personal safety practices and not solicit or accept rides from people they do not know.”

Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Major Crimes Section Sex Offense Unit at (410) 222-4732.
