An Annapolis man was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week for assaulting a woman who was eight months pregnant with his child.

Darryl Moore, 35, was found guilty of first-degree assault and handgun offenses in March for the attack on his girlfriend and another woman.

The assault happened last September on Madison Street in Annapolis, when Moore approached a car his girlfriend and another woman were sitting in. There were two 3-year-old children in the car with them.

As he approached the vehicle, Moore picked up a rock and began beating it on the car window. Moore briefly left the area and returned with a handgun, pointing it at the women and threatening to kill them if they called the police.

The other woman in the vehicle reported that Moore then said to his girlfriend, "I'll smack you; I'll kill you. Call whoever you want; if you call the police, I'll kill you."
