As of Monday, Annapolis has recorded nine homicides, a record number for the state capital.

Walter Bryan, 46, was shot in front of  his home at Clay and Pleasant streets. He died shortly thereafter.

"The one we had yesterday made it nine in Annapolis for this year, which is a historic high for us," Cpl. Amy Miguez, a spokeswoman for the Annapolis Police Department, said.

The community is aware of these elevated numbers as well. That's why last Saturday a rally for peace was held in the same community, where hundreds showed up.

Police say if the community doesn't want this violence,  then they have to get involved.
