9-year-old robbed for phone

LAUREL, Md. - A nine-year-old boy was robbed for a cell phone in Laurel Friday afternoon.

Police say the boy was walking near the intersection of Red Clay Road and Old Annapolis Road around 3:15 p.m. when the suspect asked him for the time. When the boy took out his phone to check, the suspect grabbed it.

After a brief struggle, the boy fell to the ground and the suspect fled with the phone.  Police say the victim was not hurt.

The suspect is believed to be in his late teens, wearing a dark hoodie and a crew cut.
