Police are searching for three suspects who stole an ATM machine from an Exxon gas station in Laurel Tuesday.

Just after 4 a.m., officers responded to the gas station, located at 3384 Laurel Fort Meade Road.

"The clerk stated that he observed a white van, a white work van, pull into the parking lot, back into the store and shattered the store's windows," Lt. Ryan Frashure, with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said.

The clerk told police that three suspects backed a van into the side of the store, breaking a window.

Two men then entered the store, stole the ATM machine, and made off with it inside a white Ford work van.

The suspects, described as three black males wearing dark clothes, said nothing to the clerk and no one was injured, according to police.

Officers weren’t able to find the suspects or the van during a search.

About a half hour later, three men tried stealing an ATM from a BP in Lanham, but not before police spotted them.

"These guys didn't even say anything to the clerk. They just drove through the store, jumped out of the car, grabbed the ATM machine, threw it in the back of the van and they were off pretty quickly," Frashure said, referring to the Exxon smash and grab.

From there, police chased the men into D.C.

Officers aren't sure if the two cases are related, but police tell ABC2News an ATM was dumped and a van was ditched in the district and the men ran off.

Frashure is just happy no one was hurt.

"These things are very unusual. They pop up every once in awhile, but luckily we are usually able to get enough evidence to find out who the suspects are."
