11 Anne Arundel County apartments burglarized after fire

ODENTON, Md. - Anne Arundel County police are investigating a series of burglaries following an apartment fire in Odenton, according to a release from the department.

Several apartment units were damaged by fire on March 7 in the 2100 block of Peaceful Way. Inspectors declared the building unsafe to live in as a result.

Apartment complex managers secured all of the apartments with a padlock, in response.

Between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, a burglar or burglars broke into 11 apartment units not destroyed by the fire in the locked building.

“Officers and residents are in the process of determining what was taken during these burglaries.  One resident suffered the loss of numerous firearms,” the release from Anne Arundel County police states.

A private security firm was hired following the fire. Officers have increased patrols in the area.
