Cheryl Conner is proud to be reporting in her home state, with most of her family as part of the audience. She has moved four times in seven years, with the mission of coming back to where her dreams of pursuing a career in broadcast journalism began.
Most recently, Cheryl worked for NewsChannel 8 in Arlington, VA. She covered community issues and was sent to national stories, like the tragedy at Virginia Tech. In this position, Cheryl moved beyond the front of the camera, focusing on photography and editing, as well. She was expected to shoot the video and edit the story. NewsChannel 8 brought her home from NEWS 25 in Evansville, IN, where she was weekend anchor/reporter. After graduating from the University of Maryland, her career began in Hagerstown at NBC 25. One of the most memorable days came when the Washington-area snipers were caught in Myersville, about 10 miles from the station. She was responsible for mobilizing the entire newsroom and anchoring the morning newscast.
Any moment she gets, Cheryl enjoys the challenge of physical fitness. She has finished three marathons and is training for a triathlon. Inspiring children through volunteer programs is a true passion.
