BALTIMORE - Baltimore police announced they charged a 19-year-old in the death of her son from earlier this month.
Police arrested Cierra Curtis on Thursday for beating her 21-month-old son Jayden to death.
Officers were near the Red Carpet Inn on Reisterstown Road on July 1 when they heard Cierra screaming. According to court documents, Cierra told police "I swear I'm not a bad mother, my baby's not breathing."
Her boyfriend was following Cierra carrying Jayden, who was gasping for breath. The officers tried to save Jayden with CPR but were unsuccessful. Jayden died at Sinai hospital.
An autopsy showed the toddler died from multiple blunt force injuries and after speaking with witnesses, police arrested Cierra.
She is charged with second-degree murder, assault, child abuse and neglect.
