Man charged in public bathroom ‘peeping tom' cases in Howard County

COLUMBIA, Md. - A Windsor Mill man is facing peeping tom charges after police say he followed men into public bathrooms and tried to look at their genitals.

Marc Scott Dawson, 48, of Cross Trails Road is charged with six counts of peeping tom and six counts of visual surveillance with prurient intent in two separate cases.

The incidents took place in both Howard and Baltimore counties, and the man is facing charges in both jurisdictions, according to Howard County police.

Howard County police launched an investigation in August after a security guard at The Mall in Columbia reported a man repeatedly following young men into the bathroom and allegedly trying to look at their genitals, police said.

Officers reviewed mall surveillance footage and noted a man, later identified as Dawson, walk into the bathroom 31 times in a two-hour period.

Days later, detectives followed Dawson into the Security Square Mall in Baltimore County then the Home Depot in Catonsville where he allegedly followed and watched young men, including one under the age of 18, in the bathroom.

Daws was arrested and charged last week and has been released from the Howard County Detention Center on $15,000 bail.
