Feral cat prompts school closing in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE - Students at one Glen Burnie elementary school are starting the holiday weekend early after a feral cat eluded animal control inside the school building Friday.

School officials announced Richard Henry Lee Elementary School would close at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 29 after animal control officials were unable to capture a feral cat loose inside the school, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesman Bob Mosier.

Animal control plans to set traps inside the school to capture the animal.

Bus riders were to be taken home by the normal bus at the normal time.

Walkers and car riders were not dismissed unless they are picked up by a parent or guardian.

Students were supervised until they are picked up, according to a message from Mosier.
