Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash that snarled traffic on Route 50 June 11, MdTA police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Green said.

Police have identified the driver as Ki Ung Han. It is unclear what charges may be leveled against him.

The crash happened Wednesday afternoon and witnesses reported seeing Han's vehicle driving erratically then leave the road, hitting the MdTA vehicle parked on the shoulder and injuring the officer inside, Green said.

The officer had to be cut out of the car, was flown to Shock Trauma and released later that same day.
