All eastbound lanes of US Route 50 through Anne Arundel were reopened Thursday morning following emergency roadwork that began during peak rush hour traffic Wednesday.
The incident was first reported at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials said a metal pipe deteriorated and collapsed, according to a release from the State Highway Administration. The resulting hole was several feet deep and caused significant traffic delays.
All lanes for eastbound traffic were reopened Thursday at Route 665, however, and there were no delays as of 5 a.m.
