Victim who died in single car crash in Glen Burnie identified

GLEN BURNIE, Md. - Anne Arundel County police have identified the person who was killed in a morning crash in Glen Burnie.

Jeffrey Brian Clary, 23, of Baltimore was killed when the car he was riding in struck a guardrail and flipped over, police said.

Police said charges are pending against the driver of the 2008 Ford Fusion, Edward Jefferson Hanvey II, 18, of Pasadena. The car had been reported stolen from Baltimore City prior to the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered to be contributing factors in the accident.

Hanvey was traveling south on East Furnace Branch Road approaching Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard at a high rate of speed around 3:40 a.m. Police said Hanvey failed to negotiate the sharp, right-hand curve and struck a curb and guardrail before overturning onto the guard rail.

The vehicle slid along the guardrail on its roof for about 150 feet before coming to rest in the grass.

Police said Hanvey ran from the scene and was found a short time later walking north on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. He was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Clary, who was riding in the front passenger seat, sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
