AROUND BALTIMORE: Maryland Oscars Style Stars, National Pancake Day & Go Away Winter!

Free flapjacks for National Pancake Day

BALTIMORE - Here are the stories you're talking about on March 3, 2014.

1. ENOUGH WITH THE WINTER WEATHER ALREADY!: Nearly ten inches fell around Baltimore, 20 inches last week and more on the way next week. Old Man winter you’ve got some explaining to do. At least kids are enjoying this snow.

Let’s just not have a repeat of 1996 when the Orioles had to postpone opening day in April because of snow.

2. MARYLAND STYLE STARS AT THE OSCARS: It wasn’t just host Ellen Degeneres who wanted to be seen alongside the A-list actors inside the Dolby Theater.

Some local Marylanders shined brightly at the 2014 Oscars and on the Red Carpet, including “Her” writer/director, Spike Jonze, John Waters, and the cast of American Hustle.

While Rockville’s Spike Jonze snagged the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, he also stayed classy in this simple black tuxedo.

And did you know “American Hustle” is based on the FBI’s Abscam sting here in Maryland. The movie didn’t win any awards, but it definitely represented the Baltimore fashion scene.

3. NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY FOR LLS: By Tuesday, you’ll be sick of cabin fever so why not kickoff Fat Tuesday by digging into a stack of flapjacks at IHOP for their National Pancake Day. While you’re there, you can help combat cancer.

They hope to raise $250,000 to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Maryland Chapter  find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and Hodgkin’s disease.
