Update

Howard County Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting at a Clarksville Halloween party over the weekend.

Devin O'Brian Dixon, 22, of Elkridge and Dean Schroyer, 21, also from Elkridge, were both arrested and charged overnight Monday.

The shooting happened at around 1 a.m. Nov. 1 in the 11,500-block of Manorstone Lane. Police were called to the home after party goers called 911 to report shots had been fired inside the home.

Police found the first victim, Aaron Brice, dead in the driveway. They found the second victim, Nathaniel Quick, shot in the basement. Quick was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and police say he may be paralyzed as a result of his injuries.

More than 100 people were in the house when the shooting occurred. Police spent hours questioning them to figure out what happened. Detectives received information that helped them to identify Dixon as the shooter and Schroyer as the driver of the getaway car. Police believe an unknown altercation lead to the shooting.

A search warrant was obtained for the suspects' homes. Inside Dixon's home police found a handgun they believed may have been used in the shooting. In Schroyer's home they found three pounds of marijuana.

Dixon is charged with murder, attempted murder, and assault. He is currently being held at the Howard County Detention Center on a no bond status. Schroyer is also being held at the detention center on $50,000 bond. He is charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact and drug possession.

Update

A frightening scene turns all too real at a Halloween party.

"It was a pop, like 10 or 15 pops. We thought it was firecrackers, but then you could tell it wasn't people having fun. It was all this pandemonium," said one neighbor who does not want to be identified.

Howard County Police searched the property of the home in the 11500 block of Manorstone Ln. in Columbia near Clarksville after two people were shot and one of them died. Before the night ended, more than 100 people attended the party.

"It was so disturbing, so loud. I was surprised the police hadn't come earlier," the neighbor said.

Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, police discovered the body of 19-year-old Aaron Brice, of Silver Spring, in the driveway. Nathaniel Quick, 22, of Columbia, was found in the basement in critical condition. He is expected to survive, but it is likely he will be paralyzed.

Neighbors called police back in June after hearing another loud party at the same house.

"We have been to this residence in the past. It's our understanding that the homeowner was renting out the house for the purposes of having a party," said Howard County Police Spokesman Sherry Llewellyn.

Investigators are still searching for a motive, but they don't believe the shootings were related to gang activity or drugs. Police say most people were not wearing costumes, but neighbors wish this frightening scene was make believe.

"It's scary because our neighborhood is very safe. And I just hope they find who's responsible," said the unidentified neighbor.

Police have interviewed several witnesses. If you know more, you're asked to call Howard County Police: 410-313-3200. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Police say two other people were injured at the party in a separate fight. They were not shot, but they suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Update

Howard County police are continuing to investigate a homicide that occurred during a Halloween party in Columbia near Clarksville overnight.

Investigators are reporting that two victims were shot in the incident.

Aaron Thomas Brice, 19, of Silver Spring, was found deceased at the scene.

Another victim, Nathaniel Quick, 22, of Columbia, was transported to Shock Trauma in critical condition. He is expected to survive, but may be paralyzed to an unknown extent as a result of his injury.

Two other Columbia men, ages 20 and 21, were taken to Howard County General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators do not believe their injuries were related to the shooting. Their names will not be released as they are considered witnesses, like the other attendees of the party.

Police responded to the scene and found more than 100 people at the residence. Detectives are still working to determine what led to the shooting and do not have a motive.

Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information and are urging anyone with information to call 410-313-3200.
