Baltimore Co. Officer Shot, Released from Hospital

Officer and Suspect Names Released

Baltimore County Police have released the name of the officer who was shot when he responded to a domestic dispute in Fullerton on Friday evening.

He is Officer Parker, of Precinct 8/Parkville.  He has been a Baltimore County police officer for 23 years. 

The suspect who shot him and was later killed in the incident is identified as Edward Paul Boss, 47, of the 6800-block of Highview Avenue.  

The incident began around 5:30 Friday evening when Officer Parker responded to a domestic dispute call on Highview Avenue.  When he arrived, he saw Boss assaulting a woman outside of Boss' home.  Boss then shot at Officer Parker, hitting him in the shoulder.  

Officer Parker returned fire and called for back up.  Other officers arrived and a "gun battle" broke out.  Boss was killed.  

Officer Parker was taken to Bayview Hospital and treated and released.   

Update

A 30-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police force has been released from the hospital after he was shot in the upper body on Friday evening. 

The officer was responding to a domestic dispute in the Fullerton area when he was shot by the suspect.  The officer was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview. 

The suspect was shot and killed by other police officers who were responding to the scene. 

Celebrated Officer

Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson said the officer who was shot on Friday evening has been on the force for nearly 30 years. 

He suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was shot after responding to a call for a domestic dispute.  He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Neighbors say that there was a woman and at least one child near the house when the shootings happened. 

Shortly after the initial shooting, more officers responded.  'A gun battle ensued; numerous rounds were discharged and the adversary was struck and killed,' Chief Johnson said.

Police have not released the name of the wounded officer or the suspect who was killed in the incident

Update

Baltimore County police say an officer was shot after arriving at a domestic dispute, and other officers shot and killed the suspect.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Parkville section of the county.

After the officer was shot, authorities say a "gun battle" followed in which the suspect was shot and killed.

The officer, who was shot in the upper torso, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Officer Shot

A Baltimore County police officer was shot Friday afternoon when he responded to a domestic dispute in Fullerton, according to police officials. 

The officer who was shot was the first to respond to the incident.  He was shot in the upper body. 

He was transported to Bayview hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. 

The suspect was shot and killed when other police officers arrived on the scene. 

Names have not been released but the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company confirms that the officer who was shot is a member with them.

Original Story

Breaking news from Baltimore County.  There are reports that a Baltimore County Police Officer has been shot.

ABC2 News Christian Schaffer is on the scene at Belair Road and Fuller Avenue in the Parkville area of the county.  He says a number of police officers are on the scene.   

No word at this time on just how bad the officer's injuries are.  And no word on a suspect.  But Christian does say there is some sort of standoff going on with police.
