From May 22-28, the RA Sushi in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood, and others throughout the country, are rolling out a special menu and 100 percent of the proceeds are going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"Nicky's Week", as its called at RA, started 13 years ago when 13-year-old Nicholas Mailliard died of pediatric cancer. He was the nephew of Rich Howland, one of the founders of RA.
The special menu during Nicky's Week includes the Tootsy Maki Roll, the "RA"ckin Shrimp Tacos and the Poke Tacos, along with specialty cocktails like the Dragon Bite and the Sea Monkey.
According to St. Jude's website, the hospital never turns away a sick child and never makes a family pay for treatment, housing or travel. Since it opened more than 50 years ago, St. Jude has pushed the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent.
