The  Maryland SPCA partnered with Meals on Wheels to help people who need a little extra help make sure their pets are fed.

The Kibble Connection was started back in 2008 when a Meals on Wheels volunteer noticed some of that food was being shared with pets.

Now the program has expanded and nearly six tons of food was given out last year.

Don’t miss this year’s March for the Animals on Sunday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register here.

"People in the Kibble Connection really do love their pets and they're in a situation where they can't afford the food for them," said April O'Neill, a Kibble Connection volunteer.

The Maryland SPCA collects donations of pet food and kitty litter from the public and then provides that to Meals on Wheels clients.
