Lawmaker wants to make Halloween a floating holiday

East Hartford, CT - A Connecticut lawmaker wants to make Halloween a floating holiday like Labor Day or Thanksgiving.

Opinions are sweeping in about Representative Tim Larson's idea to change Halloween. Instead of having it on October 31st he'd like to move it to the last saturday of the month. Larson says it would help families since they won't have to rush after school and work.

He also says it would be safer for trick or treaters to go door to door when it's light out. Republican State Senator Robert Kane of Watertown weighed in.

"Start by lowering taxes and regulations. more laws like these will continue to take connecticut in the wrong direction," Kane said.

Larson's change can't be pushed through in time for this Halloween but he says he's going to try to make it happen for next year.
