Four Baltimore-area breweries are coming together to create a beer to benefit Baltimore and Ellicott City businesses damaged  by the July flood.

Key Brewing Co., Monument City Brewing Company, Brewer's Art and White March Brewing Company joined forces to create a ginger rye ale named "Ryelief."

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Ellicott City Partnership fund as well as the fund assisting Nepenthe Home Brew in the Meadow Mill Complex.

Bond Distributing will be the exclusive distributor of "Ryelief."

“Bond Distributing believes strongly in and has for 66 years been part of the fabric of Baltimore’s larger community.  Through our efforts, Bond hopes to assist residents in need to put the pieces of their life back together and businesses to rebuild and regain strength once again,” said Matt Crow.

Ryelief was brewed with North American Pale malt, malted rye, Warrior and Santiam hops, fermented with Westmalle Belgian yeast and ginger root.  The release date is Wednesday, Sept. 7.

“We tend to all know each other in the microbrew community and it was fun to collaborate with the other breweries on a product that we’re proud of and for a good cause,” said Spike Owen with Key Brewing.

“Bond has been great to work with, not just as our distributor, but also as a partner enabling us to collaborate on Ryelief to help the affected businesses at Meadow Mill and Ellicott City.”

If you want to try this beer and help a good cause there are some events planned for this month.

You can try Ryelief  Sept. 7, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Red Brick Station in White Marsh and Sept. 13, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Max’s Taphouse in Fells Point.
