Washington, DC - Washington D.C. is very excited about it's newest superstar.
The National Zoo got a very special delivery from the stork last night.
Pink, wiggly, weighing about 4 ounces, and about the size of a stick of butter, mom Mei Xiang welcomed her baby giant panda to the world.
Zoo workers say they'll follow the Chinese tradition of waiting for 100 days to name the panda.
They plan to let the people of Washington help name it.
Mom probably won't emerge from her den for about a week while she cares for the cub, not even for food or water.
If you want to see the cub you can try to catch a peak here .
But a warning - it's going to be a little while before he is camera-ready.
