Will you soon have to worry about hackers when you head to the polls in November?

Federal officials believe Russian hackers breached election systems in both Florida and Illinois, possibly compromising voter information.

"I think state sponsored hacking is part of our core issue of cyber security in this country which to me is the greatest threat that we have," voter, John Patterson, said.

Right now, lawmakers are employing the FBI to investigate reports that Russia may be planning to try to affect the presidential election.

"It's really the first time that the us government has formally identified a foreign, nation state as actually hacking any of our systems," Bob Olsen, CEO of Compass Cyber Security, said.

So what could happen if these foreign hackers succeed?

"It's incredibly scary to think that a nation state could influence the outcome of an election which is going to decide the President of the United States," Olsen said.

The FBI is expected to provide updated guidance to  elections officials across the country to help them spot suspicious activity in their computer networks.
