University president offers home to displaced students from Sandy

Students crash at president's house

When Superstorm Sandy displaced hundreds of students living in beach houses along Connecticut's coast, the schools' president asked alumni and faculty to step up to offer temporary housing.  And that included him.

Four Fairfield University crashed at the home of school president Jeffrey von Arx's, according to the Greenwich Time.  They lived in a rental home on Fairfield Beach Road near Long Island Sound.  About 200 other students also lived in similar types of housing and were told their homes and apartments were uninhabitable after Sandy.

Some students were put in dorms but there were still more that needed a place to go.  "When I sent out an appeal to faculty, staff and alumni in the area who might be able to house students, I figured I had to set an example," von Arx told the Greenwich Time.
