Murder & hate crime trial in UMD stabbing delayed

The hate crime trial for a University of Maryland student accused of stabbing a man to death on campus has been delayed six months.

Sean Urbanski is charged in the death Lt. Richard Collins III. Collins was visiting friends in College Park on May 20. Police say they were on campus waiting for an Uber when Urbanski ran up and stabbed Collins in the chest.

Collins died just days before he was set to graduate from Bowie State University.

Urbanski is faces first-degree murder and a hate crime charge. The 22-year-old's trial has now been rescheduled from January 2018 to July 2018.
