BALTIMORE - A Baltimore police officer shot two dogs, killing one, that were attacking a 12-year-old boy in the city’s southeast district, a department spokeswoman said.
Two dogs began attacking the boy in the 100 block of Belnord Street in a back alley behind the boy’s home some time before 4:48 p.m., spokeswoman Sgt. Sarah Connolly said.
Connolly did not know the breed of the dogs, nor who owned the dogs, or if they were strays.
An officer noticed the incident while on routine foot patrol. The officer fired at the dogs, killing one and injuring the other.
Custody of the dogs was handed over to Baltimore City Animal Control.
The boy suffered “superficial wounds,” Connolly said.
