HOUSTON, TX - From the outside, only a hole hacked in the roof offers any sign that a home daycare center in Houston was filled with smoke from a kitchen fire, killing three children and injuring four others.
Investigators will be seeking answers Friday about what sparked the fire a day earlier at Jackie's Child Care, where firefighters needed thermal imaging equipment to find some victims.
Seven children ranging from 18 months to 3 years old were taken to hospitals.
Of the injured, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston listed one child in critical condition and one in good condition.
Spokeswoman Jennifer Hart says a third was transferred to Shriners Hospital in Galveston in critical condition.
Houston Executive Assistant Fire Chief. Rick Flanagan said two children were transferred to the Shriners burn center.
