The best weekend of summer is quickly approaching. Enjoy all that there is to do in the Baltimore area, whether its music, food, fireworks or other entertainment. ABC2 has outlined some of the best events happening the weekend of Independence Day.

Remember that private firework displays are against the law for safety reasons. Save yourself the hassle and go instead to one of the many public firework displays happening in the Baltimore area.

Music

Fourth of July weekend will be a great time to relax and enjoy some music in the warm summer evening.

 

Baltimore’s Fourth of July Celebration- presented by Ports America Chesapeake

 Downtown Baltimore

Monday July 4 7 p.m.- 10 p.m,

There will be live music and fireworks in Downtown Baltimore. This event is considered to be the biggest Fourth of July celebration and will feature contemporary music from the U.S. Navy Band Cruisers and a patriotic fireworks show. The music begins at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m. The musical performance will take place at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater at Pratt and Light Street and the fireworks can be viewed in several locations downtown and the surrounding area including Federal Hill, Locust Point, Fell’s Point, Canton and Harbor East.

 

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Star-Spangled Spectacular

Oregon Ridge Park

 July 3-4 at 8 p.m. on both nights 

In addition to an incredible lineup of music, guests will be treated to food trucks and fireworks. Attendees can enjoy patriotic songs, songs dedicated to the armed forces and the newest edition of John Williams' "STAR WARS" score.

 

The Piranhas at Hard Rock Café

Hard Rock Café

Noon-10 p.m.

Join the Hard Rock Café’s Fourth of July Tradition by rocking out with The Piranhas all day. This event is free.

African American Festival

Camden Yards Sports Complex

You won’t want to miss the largest cultural festival on the East Coast with over 350,000 attendees annually. This festival is a celebration of the life, music and culture of African Americans. There will be musical performances, empowerment seminars and plenty of fun for the family.

               

Fourth of July Pier Party       

National Aquarium

July 4

The Baltimore National Aquarium will celebrate the Fourth of July with fun for the whole family. There will be crafts and face painting for children along with music and entertainment. There will be an option to purchase meal  tickets for a BBQ buffet of burgers, hot-dogs, grilled mushrooms and more. At the end of the night, all will have a view of the fireworks display.

 

 

Frederick Douglass Special Presentation

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine

July 4

Michael Crutcher will be portraying Frederick Douglass at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for Independence Day. Following the special presentation, visitors will be invited to a question and answer session about the history of Frederick Douglass and America as a whole. The entrance fee is $10 per adult and free for visitors 15 and under.
