"Tonight Show" moving back to NYC

LOS ANGELES -

Plans are in the works to bring "The Tonight Show" back to New York.

This is according to the New York Times, which also reports that Jimmy Fallon has made a commitment to NBC to host the late night program after Jay Leno.

Johnny Carson moved the show from the Big Apple to Burbank in the 1970s.

While the deal isn't complete, the Times reports it's expected to take place by the fall of 2014.
