I love me some Finals! While not all the dances were my cup of tea, I was certainly not disappointed. Each couple performed a Redemption Dance, a repeat style from earlier in the season, and the make-or-break Freestyle. They rocked.

Redemption Round
David Ross and Lindsay Arnold kicked off the night with their Viennese Waltz. While David has made improvement, he definitely doesn’t have the skills to compete with the other 2. He looked good, but not great. 33

Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy’s Quickstep was lightning quick. Those 2 blazed across the dance floor. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a Quickstep so quick before! It didn’t knock my socks off, but it was good enough for a 38.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater performed a super-steamy Viennese Waltz. It was subtly phenomenal. Their chemistry kicked it into high gear and the judges noticed. What a team! Rashad finally got his 10 from Len! 40!

Freestyle Round
David and Lindsay’s Freestyle was flipping adorable. Lindsay pulled out all the stops including a dugout and baseball bats. I was impressed with how David kept up with all the pros! He didn’t miss a beat and didn’t look like he was completely out of place either. A 40 for his final performance.

Normani and Val went classy for their Freestyle. She is so good and so gracious. While I don’t discount how significant this performance was, I’m a bigger fan of the fun, make-me-want-to-get-out-of-my-seat Freestyle. It was good, I was expecting something different. Doesn’t matter what I think, she wowed the judges. 40 for Normani and Val.

Rashad and Emma had a blast during their Freestyle and so did I. I love that Rashad had so much input into the choreography. They started out with “Uptown Funk”, transitioned into a drumline, then back to “Uptown Funk”. It was simply fantastic and the judges gushed. Perfection. 40.

My gut tells me that Rashad is going to win this. David should be the next eliminated and I fear that he won’t be. Fingers crossed for a Rashad or Normani win.
