Many of you were getting used to the mild temperatures in the 50s, 60s and even the 70s this winter season. Also, many of  you have heard about some of the flowers blooming and trees budding because of the the mild temps but watching the tropics in the winter is a bit much. Don't you think?

It was necessary yesterday and today as the National Hurricane Center issued a statement about an area of low pressure extending from Cuba northward into Southern Florida that was interacting with a mid-level trough. There were no signs of an organized circulation and upper level winds are not favorable for subtropical cyclone formation, but it will continue to bring gusty winds and widespread rainfall to the Florida Keys and Southern Florida today.

As you well know, hurricane season ended months ago, November 30 to be exact. So even mentioning the National Hurricane Center in the dead of winter just goes to add to the peculiar nature of this winter season. As in life, you have to take the good with the bad. If you get mild to warm temperatures in the winter then be ready for the same repercussions that you would get in the spring or summer.

Staying true to this strange winter season, it is now time to focus our attention on cold temps and a new storm that may drop some snow tomorrow!  Up to an inch is possible around Baltimore and up to 2 inches or maybe a little more north of  Baltimore is possible.

We most likely will see snow falling from the sky tomorrow just like we did this past Saturday. Remember with all the mild temperatures that we have been getting the ground may be too warm for any significant snow to stick which in turn will cut into accumulations. The system won't hang around for long but at least it will look and feel like winter for a little while!
