Winter outlook

As summer begins to wind down and after record setting high temperatures and drought this spring and summer, many people have been asking me what the upcoming winter season has in store?

The development of a weak to moderate El Nino by the end of September could aid in above-average snow totals along the East Coast. El Nino typically causes a strong southern branch of the jet stream across the country, which can often phase together with cold air and the northern branch of the jet stream around the mid-Atlantic, causing major winter storms like Nor'easters which we all know very well.

We still have a few weeks left of summer and all of fall before we take on winter, so my recommendation is to enjoy each season as it unfolds and leave the rest up to Mother Nature!
