Denver gets hit by hail and reports of tornadoes

DENVER, Co - A series of thunderstorms late Wednesday hammered the Denver Metro Area leaving several inches of hail along highways and roads.
Slow-moving storm cells battered the southeastern part of the greater Denver Metro area with very heavy rain, several tornado warnings and numerous reports of damaging hail.
The worst of the storm damage has been in northeastern Douglas and western Elbert Counties. Hail has caused a great deal of damage to trees, gardens, farm fields, roofs and automobiles. The extent of the damage will not be fully known until daylight, but it will be in the millions of dollars.
The weather will quiet down early Thursday morning, with skies clearing and temperatures dropping into the 50s. There will be some areas of fog forming through early morning, due to the moisture left from the storms. This low level moist are will set the stage for more thunderstorms later in the day. Some of the storms will be severe over the northeast plains.
