Efforts will begin Monday night, June 25 to move a giant transformer from Harford County to Delta, Pennsylvania.
The transformer is 35 feet high and 28 feet wide and weighs approximately 481,000 pounds. Due to its large size, it's being hauled by a specially designed vehicle that will travel at just 5 miles per hour.
Maryland State Police, the State Highway Administration and the MDTA will assist in the transportation.
Motorists who travel MD 155 (Level Road), I-95, MD 22 (Churchville Road), MD 136 (Priestford/Whiteford Road) and MD 165 (Pylesville Road) should expect temporary road and bridge closures. There will be detours in place.
The transformer will stop at a pre-determined, secure staging location each night.
It's scheduled to reach its final destination on Thursday night, June 28.
This is the last of seven transformers to be moved from the port at Havre de Grace to Delta, Pennsylvania.
You can track the transformer's progress, by calling Exelon's Hotline at 1-717-456-4932.
If you happen to the see the transformer, take a picture and email it to email@example.com.
