A brand new state of the art training center for golf enthusiast is now open in Timonium. It's part of a multi-million dollar makeover for the old Longview Golf Course.

The newly named Fox Hollow Golf course is one of five golf courses operated by the Baltimore County Revenue Authority. Thursday a number of county leaders and area golfers attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new training facility.

The new complex features 60 multi-surface tees, as well as a natural grass training area with bunkers.

PGA professionals are available for lessons and those looking to improve their game can take advantage of the advanced video analysis equipment.

The new driving range is much larger than the old eliminating the need for "limited flight balls."

Baltimore County Executive, Jim Smith, said "Fox Hollow preserves the proud history of our County's oldest publicly owned golf course, and it continues the tradition of being funded by the golfing public."

Close to $3 million dollars was spent to redesign the back 9 holes on the golf course and build the all new training center.

The course was built in the early 70's, but this new design is scheduled to open July 1st.

County leaders hope this new training center will become the "cornerstone" for the golfing community and have plans to expand the area's junior golf program giving young golfers in the area access to the county's largest golf training complex.
