PIMLICO - Silver Partner slipped through a narrow gap between horses at the top of the stretch and drove to victory in the $25,000 Kattegat's Pride Starter Handicap.
Owner and trainer John Saltzman Jr. said that he "thought I had a good shot here. I was happy with the move from turf to dirt and having Ramon Dominguez helped. He’s one of the best riders in the country. I still want to try the turf with her. With the wet spring, she’s never really had a shot here, but we’re very pleased with her race today.”
Under jockey Ramon Dominguez, the daughter of Parner's Hero reached the finish line two lengths ahead of Universal Language, with long shot Lady Outflanker rounding out third.
Silver Partner completed the 11/16 miles in 1:46.84 and paid $6.20.
Jockey Dominguez said “I was stuck down on the inside, fourth, but on the heels of the two leaders. The rail opened and I came through on the inside. It worked all well.”
