BALTIMORE - The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is urging drivers to stay away from certain roads over the next few days.
All of the changes and closures are planned for the 136th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course Saturday.
Gates for the day will open at 8 a.m., but because of the huge crowds expected, carpooling and public transportation are strongly recommended.
The following streets will be closed to through traffic on Preakness Day:
Saturday May 21, 2011 - 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Saturday May 21, 2011 - 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The following special traffic modifications will also be in effect:
Thursday May 19, 2011 starting at 10 p.m. until Saturday May 21, 2011 at 8 p.m.
Thursday May 19, 2011 starting at 10 p.m. until Saturday May 21 at 9 p.m.
Saturday May 21, 2011 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Saturday May 21, 2011 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
